阿美族人透過竹占(pa'adaw)與神靈溝通,了解病痛或是困難的癥結,竹占師透過觀察竹籤斷裂的情形,解讀占卜的結果是吉籤或是代表"有疾病的,不好的,被陷害的"籤,替來問卜求助的族人指點方向.
