馬太安阿美族人居住地附近，雖有河流，但平日水淺石多，無航運價值，人可涉水而過河，但在雨後漲水之時，往往要靠竹筏以渡河。竹筏用過後，抬回屋內置於爐上燻烤，以防潮濕腐爛。
