在我小時候，村裡的人如果生病或者遇到什麼壞事，就會請巫師來家裡做法，每當聽說誰家請了巫師，我便會好奇地過去偷看。通常會有一名位階比較高的大巫師負責做法，幾個位階比較低的小巫師則會圍繞在大巫師身邊，協助他完成儀式。他們手裡都拿著棕櫚葉，像是歌舞般地揮著，聽大人說，棕櫚葉有驅邪的效果。

外婆的田在加里洞（Kalotong）的山上，還記得小時候一到暑假，就會跟著外公、外婆坐牛車上山。儘管有牛車代步，車程還是需要三至四個小時，因此平常外公和外婆都清晨五點多就得出門務農。
